To delete the custom domain imai-shoji.com from Microsoft 365, remove it from the tenant. Before doing so, ensure it is not the default domain and that all dependencies (users, email addresses, groups, etc.) have been moved off that domain.
- If the domain is currently the default/primary domain
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 portal as a global administrator.
- Go to Admin.
- Open the company profile (select the company name near the top of the page).
- Select Edit.
- In Default domain, change the default to another domain (for example, the onmicrosoft.com domain), then select OK.
- After this, the domain imai-shoji.com is no longer the default and can be removed.
- Remove the custom domain from Microsoft 365
- In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to the domains management area and choose to remove the custom domain imai-shoji.com.
- If the portal reports that the domain is still in use, first remove or change any users, groups, or resources still using addresses on @imai-shoji.com, then retry the removal.
If nameservers for imai-shoji.com are not hosted at Microsoft, also update DNS at the current DNS provider to point services (such as email) to the new provider before or at the time of removal.
