Upgrade PostgreSQL 17 to 18 in Belgium Central

Hello,

I would like to do an upgrade of my PostgreSQL 17 to 18 in the Belgium Central zone, but the upgrade button is grayed and I have this "Upgrade unavailable due to regional capacity constraints. Contact support to discuss alternative options".

When looking inside the docs, I see that it's currently not enabled in Belgium Central. Is there still another way to do the upgrade ?

Thanks,

Nicolas

    Hi Nicolas Martinussen,

The upgrade is currently not supported in the Belgium Central region due to regional capacity constraints.

At this time, Major Version Upgrade (MVU) to PostgreSQL 18 is disabled, as it requires a system restart and may cause the server to become unresponsive or stuck because of capacity limitations. This is why the upgrade option is grayed out in the portal.

    • Continue using PostgreSQL 17 — no charges will apply even after the retirement date.
    • Restore the server to a paired/supported region and perform the PostgreSQL 18 upgrade there.
    • Alternatively, deploy a new PostgreSQL 18 server in a supported region and migrate the data.
