Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Based on your description, your account may have been temporarily blocked due to the system detecting unusual activity.

Since you can still receive verification codes, please perform these steps to fix the error:

    1. Perform a password reset via Incognito/InPrivate window using different devices and network services.
    2. If it doesn't work, wait exactly 48 hours to reset the password.
    3. If the issue persists, kindly wait exactly 1 week to perform another password reset. The idea is to wait for the account lock to expire first before you reset the password, as stated in this article: https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/troubleshooting-verification-code-issues-409090c4-92b5-42b9-8ae6-bcc97e62fc48#:~:text=If%20you%20received%20a%20Microsoft%20verification%20code%20that%20you%20did#:~:text=If%20you%20received%20a%20Microsoft%20verification%20code%20that%20you%20did

Important: Please make sure not to attempt to sign in or reset the password within that timeframe (48 hours or 1 week), as this may reset the lock cooldown.

Thank you for your understanding! Please feel free to let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

"Suspension" and "recovery flow" for a Hotmail/Outlook.com (Microsoft) account generally mean:

    1. Why the account was suspended
Microsoft locks or suspends accounts when sign‑in activity or usage appears to violate the Microsoft Services Agreement or looks suspicious (for example, unusual sign‑in patterns, possible spam, or other risky behavior).
This is a protection measure, not necessarily a permanent ban.
    2. What the recovery / verification flow is
When the account is locked, signing in triggers an unlock / verification flow:
    • You are asked to sign in at https://account.microsoft.com and get a security code to prove ownership.
    • The code can be sent to any phone number that can receive SMS, not just numbers already on the account. The number is only used to send the code and is not stored.
    • After entering a valid code, you may be required to set a new password.

If the code fails or the process loops:

    • Ensure the code is typed exactly as in the SMS (only the numbers in the message body).
    • If the system reports too many attempts or you see messages like "usage limit exceeded" or are repeatedly told to try another method, this indicates a temporary block due to high volume or unusual activity.
    • In that case, stop trying repeatedly and wait at least 24 hours (up to several days in some cases) before trying again, as repeated attempts can reset the cooldown and keep the block active.
    1. Risk of permanent suspension
The documentation describes temporary locks/blocks due to suspicious activity or Terms of Use concerns. The standard path is:
    • Unlock via security code and password change, or
    • If sign‑in fails, use the Sign‑in Helper and, if needed, the account recovery form.

There is no separate manual path to bypass this:

    • Support agents and advocates cannot directly unlock accounts, send password reset links, or change account details; they can only guide through the automated flows.
    1. What to do next in this situation
    2. Go to the Microsoft account page and attempt to unlock using a security code as described in Microsoft account has been locked:
      • Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com → request a code → enter it.
    3. If the code still fails or you are stuck in a loop:
      • Wait at least 24 hours with no further attempts (no repeated code requests, no repeated recovery submissions).
      • After waiting, try again from a familiar device and network (same browser/PC or phone normally used for this account).
    4. If sign‑in still fails or the account is reported as not existing or locked:
      • Use the Sign‑in Helper for additional troubleshooting and available options.
      • If needed, proceed to the account recovery form and provide as much accurate information as possible.
    5. If codes are not arriving or you see "Try another verification method" or similar:
      • Try a different verification method on the account (alternate email vs SMS).
      • Try a different network (switch Wi‑Fi/mobile data).
      • If blocked, wait (24 hours to up to a week) before retrying, avoiding repeated attempts.

This loop of verification and temporary blocks is the normal protection behavior and does not by itself mean a permanent suspension; the key is to avoid repeated failed attempts, wait out any lockout, and then complete the official unlock/recovery steps.
