Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I am currently trying to complete a redemption process, but I am facing an issue with the verification code.

The system asks me to enter a 6-digit OTP for verification. However, the OTP that I receive via SMS contains only 5 digits, which makes it impossible for me to proceed with the redemption.

I have attached a screenshot for reference showing the message I received.

Kindly look into this issue and guide me on how I can complete the redemption process.

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. To add to the above, please check and try this on a different browser and even on inPrivate or Incognito mode depending on the browser that you are using. If you will still encounter an issue after checking the above and if it will still be the same later today or tomorrow, you may submit a ticket via https://rewards.bing.com/support for this to get checked internally by the rewards team. Response times may vary due to workload or other tasks at hand, but rest assured that they will review your case and let you know on the outcome.

Microsoft is behind in the AI game.
When was the last time they created something that wasn't bought or stolen from somewhere else?

For Microsoft Rewards redemptions, the verification code must match the format requested on screen. If the page asks for a 6‑digit code but the SMS contains only 5 digits, treat this as a verification-code delivery issue and use the standard troubleshooting steps:

    1. Confirm the message is the correct verification SMS for the Microsoft account and Rewards redemption (not a different service or bank MFA code).
    2. Check whether the phone number on the account is correct and is a mobile/landline number, not a VoIP number. VoIP numbers cannot be used for verification codes.
    3. Avoid repeatedly requesting new codes in quick succession; excessive or repetitive requests can cause Microsoft to temporarily block sending verification codes.
    4. If the phone blocks texts from unknown numbers, change the phone settings to allow them, then choose I don't have a code on the verification screen to have a new code sent.
    5. If there is unusual activity or heavy compromised traffic from the region, Microsoft may temporarily delay or block code delivery. In that case, wait and try again later.
    6. If codes still arrive incorrectly or not at all, use a different verification method (alternate email or different phone number) if available in the account’s security info.
    7. If none of the above resolves the issue, contact Microsoft Support so the account and verification options can be reviewed in detail. Use the sign-in helper or Contact Support flow from the verification-code troubleshooting page.

For Rewards specifically, redemption can also fail if:

    • A VoIP number is used for Rewards phone verification.
    • The same phone number has already been used on too many Rewards accounts.
    • A VPN/proxy or a different region than the account’s home region is being used.

Ensure the phone number meets Rewards requirements and that no VPN/proxy is active, then retry the redemption after resolving the verification-code issue.
