Training: Instruction to develop new skills.
Azure for Students and Azure for Students Starter both require verification of academic status using an institutional (organization/college) method. A personal email address alone is not sufficient.
From the documented prerequisites and eligibility:
- Azure for Students:
- Must be a student at an accredited, degree‑granting institution.
- Must verify academic status through the institution’s email address.
- Azure for Students Starter:
- Must meet the age requirement.
- Must verify academic status through the organization’s email address, or via Shibboleth if the organization supports it.
If there is no college email address and the institution does not provide a supported verification method (such as Shibboleth), the Azure for Students offers cannot be activated. In that case, the only available options are:
- Ask the institution whether a student email domain or Shibboleth-based verification is available and use that to sign up once provided.
- Use a regular Azure subscription type instead (for example, pay‑as‑you‑go), which does not require student verification but does require standard signup information such as credit card details.
There is no alternative manual document upload or other identification method described for Azure for Students beyond organization-based verification.
