Accessing and using Microsoft Teams on smartphones and tablets across platforms
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
based on your sharing, if you received a Teams notification but not get an audible ring, that can be due to your phone Sounds are disabled, Teams call sound is off or your phone is in Focus mode (which silencing sound alerts).
Therefore, I suggest you can check these settings step-by-step (steps are provided based on the latest version iOS 26. If you are using different version, please select the version and follow the steps in the reference articles of Apple Support guideline):
1/ Check iPhone alert volume + haptics
- Open Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
- Under Ringtone and Alerts, move the slider up so alerts are audible.
- Tap Haptics and make sure haptics aren’t set to “Never” (otherwise you may get no vibration/alert feedback).
- Swipe down to open Control Center and ensure Focus / Do Not Disturb isn’t enabled
2/ Turn ON sound for Teams notifications in iOS
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Teams > Turn on Allow Notifications.
- Tap Sounds and make sure a sound is selected / enabled for Teams.
- Ensure the alert style you prefer is enabled (Lock Screen / Notification Center / Banners).
- If you don’t see “Teams” listed in iOS Notifications: uninstall Teams, reinstall it, open it, and sign in again so iOS re-requests notification permissions.
3/ Make sure Focus (Do Not Disturb / Work / Sleep) isn’t silencing Teams
If you use Focus modes, they can allow banners but silence sounds:
- Go to Settings → Focus and open the Focus mode you use (Work / Sleep / Do Not Disturb, etc.).
- Under Apps, you can allow Notifications From > add Teams or if you’re using “Silence Notifications From,” make sure Teams is not in that list.
4/ Check Teams’ own notification + call settings
- In the Teams app on iPhone, tap your profile picture (top left) > Notifications.
- Set All activity to make sure calls and other activity types are enabled.
- Ensure notification sound is enabled in Teams
You can also review Block notifications options like:
- When active on other devices (in case mobile alerts are being suppressed while you’re on desktop/web)
- When in meetings (if calls are being quieted while you’re in a meeting)
After checking all the above step, please ask a colleague to place a Teams call to you while the phone is locked and Teams is in the background to see if Teams show up a banner notification with a call sound.
