    Hi,

Could you take a picture of the black screen showing the error?

Could you access repair/recovery mode and try uninstalling the latest updates?

    What are the laptop models?

    Thanks

Frequent crashes with a black/blue screen and the message “Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart” are Windows stop code (blue screen) errors. After an update on Windows 11, use these steps on each laptop:

    1. Remove any new hardware
      • If any new device (USB, external drive, printer, RAM, etc.) was added just before the issue started, shut the PC down, disconnect/remove it, then start Windows again.
    2. Boot into Safe Mode
    3. Check Device Manager for driver problems
      • Right‑click Start > Device Manager.
      • Look for any device with a yellow exclamation mark (!).
      • For each such device:
        • Right‑click > Update driver.
        • If that does not help, right‑click > Disable device or Uninstall device and restart.
    4. Free up disk space
      • Ensure the system drive (usually C:) has at least 10–15% free space so Windows can create swap files and work correctly.
    5. Install the latest Windows 11 updates
      • Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • Install all available updates, including optional driver/quality updates, then restart.
    6. If the stop code mentions hardware (for example WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR)
      • Use Windows Update first to get the latest drivers and firmware.
      • If the error points to a specific device (CPU, disk, etc.), update that device’s driver manually via Device Manager using: Right‑click device > Update driver.
    7. Use System Restore or other recovery options
      • If crashes started immediately after the last update or driver change, roll back using System Restore or other recovery options:
      • Go to Settings > System > Recovery and use the options under Recovery options, or boot into Windows Recovery Environment and choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
      • See: Recovery options in Windows 11 in the linked article.

If both laptops continue to crash with the same stop code after these steps, use the exact stop code text shown on the blue/black screen (for example, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR) to follow the more specific troubleshooting guidance in the referenced articles.
