Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Could you please let me know exactly where you are seeing this unknown email address?

    • Do you see it when you sign in with your Microsoft account (for example, when verifying your identity)?
    • Or is it listed as an alias (an additional email address) on your Microsoft account?
    • If the unknown email is listed as an alias, you can remove it by signing in to your Microsoft account here:

    https://account.live.com/names/manage

*If the unknown email is listed as an alternate security/recovery method, you can manage and remove it by signing in to your security info here: https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage

Before removing it, please make sure you have other valid security verification methods (such as your correct Outlook email address or phone number) added to your account, so you don’t lose access.

The email address shown on a Microsoft account must be a valid alias on that account. If an unknown email (“J email”) appears there, remove it as an alias and make the correct address (******@outlook.com) the primary alias.

To manage aliases for a Microsoft account:

    1. Go to https://account.live.com/names/manage and sign in.
    2. Under Your info, review the list of email addresses and phone numbers.
    3. If the unknown “J” email is listed, select Remove next to it.
    4. If ******@outlook.com is present but not primary, select it and set it as the primary alias.
    5. If ******@outlook.com is missing, use Add email to add it as an alias, then set it as primary.

If there are sign-in or security concerns (for example, if the unknown email was added without knowledge), review recent activity and security info:

    1. Check recent sign-ins at https://account.live.com/activity to confirm there are no unfamiliar logins.
    2. Ensure alternate email addresses and phone numbers for verification are correct and belong to the account owner.

If the unknown address was removed previously as an alias, it is permanently deleted and cannot be restored to that account.
