I need to Update my second name.

I would like to request an update to my second name in my Microsoft profile.

At the time of registration, I entered my second name as “S”, as my Aadhaar card contains only the initial. However, my passport lists my mother’s full name as the second name: “Syamalavally.”

Due to this mismatch between my registered profile name and my passport, there may be issues during exam identity verification using the passport.

To avoid any verification problems, I kindly request you to update my second name from “S” to “Syamalavally” so that it exactly matches the name on my passport.

Updating the second name on a Microsoft profile depends on whether the profile is a personal Microsoft account, a work/school account, or a Microsoft Learn/Certification profile.

1. For a personal Microsoft account (used for Outlook.com, Xbox, etc.):
   • Sign in to the Microsoft account.
   • Go to the page to change the Microsoft account display name.
   • Select Edit name, change the second name from “S” to “Syamalavally”, and select Save.
   • It can take up to 24 hours for the updated name to appear everywhere.
2. For a work or school account (Azure AD / Entra ID / Microsoft 365 from an organization):
   • Sign in to the work or school account.
   • Some organizations do not allow users to change their own names. If the name fields are not editable, contact the organization’s IT administrator or HR department and request that they update the second name to match the passport.
   • Name changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate.
3. For Microsoft Learn / Certification (exam and credential profile):
   • If the change is only for the display name on Microsoft Learn, open the profile, go to Settings, and update the display name under Personal info, username, and URL, then save.
   • If the change is for the legal name used for exams and certifications (so it matches the passport for identity verification), follow the Credentials Support process:
