I created an Azure Free Trial subscription with the account ******@outlook.com. The subscription Azure subscription 1 (ID: PII) is active, but the portal shows My role: Unknown. I cannot view IAM roles, billing, or create resources. Please help assign Owner role to my account or advise how to fix the RBAC access issue.

    Hello @Banu Prakash,

Whenever a user, service principal, or group that has an Azure RBAC role assignment at the management group, subscription, or resource level is deleted in Microsoft Entra ID without first removing the RBAC assignment, you may notice that the security principal is shown as Identity not found with an Unknown type. Please refer to the screenshot from my test tenant below.

To confirm whether these assignments are safe to remove: whenever you see an RBAC assignment with an Unknown type, it means the object no longer exists in the tenant and it is safe to delete the role assignment without any issues.

For more information, please refer to the public documentation below:

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

    Hello Banu Prakash,

I see you are the Global Admin of the Tenant where the Subscription resides. Hence you need to elevate access and assign yourself the owner role like below:

Go to Azure Portal -> Microsoft Entra ID -> Properties -> Access management for Azure resources -> Yes -> Save

    User's image

And then Go to Subscriptions -> Select Azure subscription 1 -> Open Access control (IAM) -> Click Add → Add role assignment -> Select Privileged administrator roles -> Select Owner -> Assign it to the same account

Let me know if any further queries - feel free to reach out!

If the resolution was helpful, kindly take a moment to click on 210246-screenshot-2021-12-10-121802.pngand click on Yes for was this answer helpful. And, if you have any further query do let us know.
