To unblock an Outlook.com/Microsoft account, a verification/security code is required; there is no alternate manual unlock path without completing that verification. If the code email is not arriving, try these steps:
- Confirm the code is being sent to a valid security email/phone
- Codes are only sent to the primary alias or an email/phone added as a way to verify sign-in.
- On the sign-in screen, make sure the partially hidden email/phone shown is actually yours and correctly spelled.
- Check junk/spam and filters
- Look in the junk folder for a message from an @accountprotection.microsoft.com address.
- Mark @accountprotection.microsoft.com as a trusted sender so future codes go to the inbox.
- Avoid repeated requests
- Excessive or repetitive code requests can cause a temporary block where codes are not sent. Wait and try again later instead of repeatedly requesting new codes.
- Wait out temporary security blocks
- If Microsoft detects unusual activity or heavy compromised traffic from the region, codes may be delayed or temporarily not delivered. These issues resolve automatically after some time; wait before trying again.
- If the account itself is blocked
- Use the Sign-in Helper from the "Unblock my Outlook.com account" page to start the unblock process and follow the prompts to receive and enter a security code.
- If the online unblock flow shows a link beginning with aka.ms/ for account reinstatement, follow that link and submit the requested information. A Microsoft Online Safety agent will review and respond by email. Do not submit multiple forms, as that can slow the response.
- If no security method works or is accessible
- If there is no way to receive a code at any of the listed methods, follow the guidance under When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account from the unblock article to use the account recovery process.
There is no supported way to bypass verification codes; the only options are to:
- Successfully receive and enter a code to unblock, or
- Complete the official recovery/reinstatement process and wait for Microsoft to finish review.
