I have been trying for 3 days now to speak with an agent. I have 16 tabs open this morning, everything that it is trying to help me with just opens a new tab of something Ive already done. Does anyone have a phone number for customer support or a direct link for a live chat?

Hi Noel, thanks for answering. I'm having a problem locked out of my Hotmail account. I have filled out forms, got two-digit codes sent to my personal phone, six-digit codes sent to an alternate email, provided the last sent email from the account. I have chatted with a live agent before but now it is not showing up. This has been going on since Feb. 2. I have been told to wait 24 hours (I did that one 3 times.) I was then told to wait a week without doing anything, which I did. I have everything linked to that account. It was fine for a while, but now I have vital banking information that I can only receive if I get into that account, and I get nowhere except an endless loop. I just wish there was a number I could call or an easy way to actually chat with non AI (because that has gotten me anywhere).

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how overwhelming it feels to open tab after tab without ever getting connected to a real support agent. I can imagine how frustrating it is to spend days trying to get help and still end up stuck in the same loop. Based on Microsoft’s documented support process, the official way to reach a live agent whether by chat or phone is through the Contact Microsoft Support page, where the availability of live chat depends on product type, region, and support hours.

To move forward, I recommend going to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/, signing in, typing your issue into the search bar, scrolling past the automated suggestions, and selecting Contact Support at the bottom. From there, you can choose your product, confirm the category, and then select either Chat with a support agent or request a call. Microsoft also provides regional customer service phone numbers, which you can find at Customer service phone numbers – Microsoft Support. These steps mirror what Microsoft advisors recommend when users cannot get through automated loops.

May I ask which product or issue you are trying to get help with? If you share a bit more detail, I can guide you straight to the correct support path so you don’t have to keep opening more tabs. Please feel free to follow up anytime I’m here to help you get connected to the right support channel.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

To reach a real support agent for Microsoft 365/Office or Windows for home, use one of these supported paths:

    1. Use the Get Help app in Windows (recommended for home Windows and Office)
      1. Press the Windows logo key, type Get Help, and open it.
      2. In the box, type a short description like Chat with an agent or your issue (80 characters or less), then press Enter.
      3. When the automated suggestions finish, select Contact support at the bottom.
      4. Choose your product or service (for example, Windows or Microsoft 365 & Office). If it is not listed, choose Other Products.
      5. Follow the prompts, then select Confirm.
      6. Choose a contact option:
        • Chat with a support agent in your web browser (opens a live chat window), or
        • Provide your phone number and a support agent will call you (Microsoft calls back; no need to wait on hold).
    2. Use the web to contact Microsoft 365/Office support
      • For Microsoft 365 for home (Personal/Family/Basic/Premium), go to the Microsoft 365 Customer Service and Support page from the article below and choose Chat or Call back if available.
      • Alternatively, use the Microsoft Office Support home page from the article below, scroll to the bottom, and use the Contact Us / Contact Support option to reach chat or phone support.
    3. Use the general Microsoft account help entry point
      • From the article below, use I need to talk to a customer support agent to get routed into the same Get Help/contact flow.
    4. If the browser keeps opening new tabs instead of connecting
      • Make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the help pane/page and explicitly click Contact support, Contact us, Chat with a support agent, or Call me back. The self-help articles will keep opening in new tabs until that final contact option is chosen.
      • If chat shows as unavailable, try again during local business hours; availability depends on region, product, and subscription.

For phone numbers by country/region (if needed as a fallback), use the Customer service phone numbers article below and select the appropriate region. For home users, that page will direct to Get help, which then offers chat or callback.
