Make sure you are in Print Layout view. Web Layout view does not have margins.

Change two things in Word: the zoom level and the view/page settings.

    1. Reset the zoom so pages open at a normal size
    • Open a document.
    • Go to the View tab.
    • In the Zoom group, click Zoom and set it to 100% (or whatever feels comfortable), then click OK.
    • Alternatively, use the zoom slider at the bottom‑right of the Word window and drag it to around 100%.

If zoom controls are disabled, make sure View > Page Movement > Vertical is selected so zoom works again.

    1. Make sure Word is using a normal page layout with margins If text “runs on one line” and doesn’t wrap, Word is likely in a non‑standard view or in Web/Draft layout:
    • Go to the View tab.
    • In Views, select Print Layout.
      • This view respects page size and margins so text wraps correctly.

If margins still seem ignored, also check:

    • Layout tab > Margins and choose Normal.
    1. If the window itself opens too small If the whole Word window is small when opened, maximize it and close Word so it remembers the last window state:
    • Click the Maximize button in the top‑right corner of the Word window.
    • Close Word, then reopen it and check if it stays maximized.

If Word ever opens off‑screen or in a strange size, use Windows’ Move/Maximize options from the taskbar button to bring it back, then close and reopen so it saves the new position.

These steps restore a normal page view with wrapping text and a typical 100% zoom, similar to older Word versions.
