    Dear @linda f,

Good day! Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I want to begin by sincerely apologizing for the frustration and inconvenience this issue has caused you.

First, may I ask where you purchased this subscription? Are you still able to sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center? Additionally, did you receive any billing or charge notification emails for the months in which you were charged?

Since cancel subscription and refund request things need action/approval from Billing team, here are some steps I recommend you try:

Method 1: Contact Microsoft Data Protection Support by Phone

The most direct method is to call Microsoft's support line to raise a request for cancelling the unexpected subscription. For a full list of regional numbers, you can also visit this official page: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support. The support team will assist you as soon as possible.

Method 2: Submit a Support Ticket if you still have access to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center

    • Open the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, then click Help & Support located in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
    • In the search bar, type “Cancel subscription” > Enter > scroll down and click on "Get Help" > "Contact support".
    • Choose your preferred contact method, fill in the required details, and then click Contact Me to submit your request.

Method 3: Create a Temporary Account (Trial Tenant) to Submit a Support Ticket

If you have difficulty reaching an agent by phone, there is a reliable workaround. This involves creating a new, temporary Microsoft 365 account to contact the support team online.

    • Sign up for a new Microsoft 365 Business trial using this link: Compare All Microsoft 365 Plans.
    • Once the trial account is created, log in to its Admin Center.
    • From the Admin Center, open a new Service Request.
    • In the ticket description, explain that you need to cancel the subscription of your primary tenant (your.onmicrosoft.com) and that you need to speak with the Billing team.
    • For reference:  Get support | Microsoft Docs

Important: Please remember to cancel the trial subscription after your original account issue is resolved to avoid any future charges.

Once you can reach out to the Billing Team, you can share:

    • The exact charge description from your bank or credit‑card statement
    • Last 4 digits of the card used
    • A screenshot of the charge (optional but helpful)

Contact a Reseller (if applicable): If your Office subscriptions are managed through a federated partner or reseller and the Global Admin cannot open a service request, they should contact the reseller’s support provider. The reseller can assist with initiating the request and coordinating with the Office support team.

Please understand that as forum moderator, my primary goal is to provide helpful guidance and support through general troubleshooting steps. While I don’t have access to internal systems required to resolve account issues, I truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations. I genuinely hope the information I share helps guide you in the right direction, and I'm always here to assist as much as I can within my scope.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to reply below if you have any update or further concern.

Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day!

Planner is included with certain Microsoft 365 subscriptions and is not billed as a separate “Planner subscription.” The $12 charge is almost certainly for a Microsoft 365 plan tied to a Microsoft account or a third‑party store purchase. To stop the monthly charge, the underlying subscription must be cancelled or recurring billing turned off.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account that is being charged.
    2. Locate the Microsoft 365 (or other) subscription that shows recurring monthly billing (likely around $12).
    3. Select Manage next to that subscription.
      • If instead of Manage it shows Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not be charged again.
    4. On the next page, choose Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, then Cancel), and follow the on‑screen steps to complete cancellation.
    5. If cancellation is not offered, or there is an overdue balance, pay any outstanding amount first; cancellation is blocked while money is owing.

If the charge is from a third‑party store (Google Play, Apple App Store, or a retailer like Amazon/Best Buy):

    1. Check the bank/credit card statement description to see if it references Apple, Google, or a retailer instead of Microsoft.
    2. If purchased via app store, cancel through that store’s subscription management and/or request a refund:
      • For Google Play, see Learn about Google Play refund policies.
      • For Apple App Store, request a refund from Apple support.
    3. If purchased from a retailer (Amazon, Best Buy, etc.), contact that retailer’s support to cancel the subscription and stop future billing.

If the charge still cannot be identified or cancelled:

    1. Use the Manage your payments area of the Microsoft account dashboard to investigate the charge and confirm which account and subscription it belongs to.
    2. If necessary, contact Microsoft Support via the billing/support entry points in the articles to get help locating and cancelling the subscription.
    3. If neither Microsoft nor the app stores/retailers can find the transaction, contact the card issuer (VISA) to dispute the charge and request that the card be blocked or replaced to prevent further unauthorized billing.
