Is there any way to unlock this Bitlocker without the key? Do I have to lose all of my data? I never had a key. Dell wants to charge me again for any advice. I already paid for Office and Windows. My Microsoft account that may have the key is locked with Bitlocker. What do I have to do. I need my computer to run my very small tax business.

BitLocker is designed so that the data cannot be unlocked without the recovery key or the original unlock method. If the drive is fully locked and you do not have the recovery key, there is no legitimate technical method to bypass or break the encryption. Microsoft intentionally designed it this way so stolen devices cannot be accessed. That means the realistic paths are either recovering the key or resetting the device and losing the encrypted data.

Before assuming the key is lost, it is important to check every place BitLocker commonly stores recovery keys. Many systems automatically save the key to a Microsoft account. You should be able to access the same account from another device, go to the Microsoft recovery key page and sign in: https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey

When I setup my Dell computer, I saw a message on my screen in big capital letters warning me to backup my BitLocker recovery key which was right there on the screen.

The BitLocker recovery key for your copy of Windows was also stored in the Microsoft account you used when you setup Windows on that computer. (If someone else setup Windows on that computer, the BitLocker recovery key is stored in the Microsoft account they used to setup Windows.)

That's the only place to find the correct BitLocker recovery key for that copy of Windows. I'm sorry to tell you there is no way to unlock BitLocker without the correct recovery key. If there was, hackers would eventually figure it out and BitLocker would be worthless.
