Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Follow these steps to get to a single Microsoft account that uses the **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] address and is not tied to the old romaplumbing.com accounts.
- Remove the work/school account from the Windows 10 device
- On the Windows 10 PC, open Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
- Select the work or school account (****@[Moderator note: personal info removed]**).
- Choose Disconnect, then confirm.
- This removes the organization account from the device but does not delete the organization’s account itself. Only the company’s IT/admin can fully delete that work/school account.
- Remove any extra Microsoft accounts from the device
- Open Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts.
- Under Accounts used by email, calendar, and contacts, select any romaplumbing.com account that appears and choose Remove.
- Under Accounts used by other apps, remove any romaplumbing.com entries as well.
- Make **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] the only Microsoft account used on the PC
- If there is already a Microsoft account for ****@[Moderator note: personal info removed]**, sign in to Windows and Microsoft apps (Store, Office, OneDrive, Teams, etc.) with that account only.
- If there is not yet a Microsoft account for ****@[Moderator note: personal info removed]**, create one using that email, then sign in to Windows and apps with it.
- Stop using the personal **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] Microsoft account
- If the personal Microsoft account currently uses **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] as its sign-in address, change it so that it no longer uses that address:
- Go to Manage how you sign in to Microsoft (the same page used for aliases).
- Add **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] as an alias if it is not already there.
- Mark **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] as Make primary so it becomes the main sign-in address.
- After that, remove the **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] alias if desired.
- This ensures the personal Microsoft account is tied to **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] and not to romaplumbing.com.
- If the personal Microsoft account currently uses **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] as its sign-in address, change it so that it no longer uses that address:
- If the goal is to fully close the Outlook.com mailbox for the personal account
- If the personal account is an Outlook.com-type mailbox and should be permanently closed, follow the Outlook.com closure process:
- Closing an Outlook.com account requires closing the entire Microsoft account. When a Microsoft account is closed, email, contacts, and access to all Microsoft services (OneDrive, Xbox, Skype, etc.) tied to that account are permanently lost.
- Before closing, move or back up any data that needs to be kept.
- If the personal account is an Outlook.com-type mailbox and should be permanently closed, follow the Outlook.com closure process:
- If the work/school account itself must be deleted
- Only the organization that owns the [Moderator note: personal info removed] tenant can delete or disable the work/school account. Contact the former employer’s IT department and request that they remove or delete the account from their system.
After these steps, the Windows 10 device will only use the **@[Moderator note: personal info removed] Microsoft account, and the old romaplumbing.com accounts will no longer be connected to the PC. Any actual deletion of the work/school account must be done by the company, and full closure of a personal Microsoft/Outlook.com account will remove all associated data and access.
