Does the Android Teams app support Bluetooth LE Audio?

I just upgraded to Oticon Zeal hearing aid (which uses Bluetooth LE Audio), and when I join a meeting the option to choose Bluetooth, is not an option in the Android Teams app. There are only 3 choices: Device, Speaker and Audio off.

If I switch back to my Oticon More hearing aids (which uses ASHA Bluetooth protocol), and when I join a meeting the option to choose Bluetooth, is available in the Android Teams app. There are 4 choices: Device, Speaker, Bluetooth and Audio off.

Here are versions:

Android: update16 March 5, 2026

Android Teams: 1616/1.0.0.2026033106

Pixel 10 Pro

Oticon Zeal - Firmware 1.0.0 (Released Oct 2025)

Oticon More - Firmware 1.1.1 (Release Jan 2021)

I found a work around to get the Microsoft Teams Android app to connect to my Oticon Zeal hearing aid (which uses Bluetooth LE Audio).

Note: When I used Galaxy Buds3 Pro (also Bluetooth LE Audio) they work the same as my Oticon Zeal and require the same workaround on Teams.

I join the Teams meeting using the Android app on my Pixel 10 Pro. I leave the audio set to speaker.

I then open Android setting, go to Bluetooth setting, and click on my hearing aids - even though they are already active. After a short time, the audio switches to my hearing aids.

If I leave the Teams meeting and re-join, I must go back to the Android setting and select my active hearing aids again.

I don't need to go to Android setting to use my hearing aid for Youtube, Amazon Music or Facebook, they just automatically use my active Bluetooth hearing aids.

This workaround acceptable, but it seems like something is wrong for Bluetooth LE Audio in Teams and/or Android.

    Hi @Preston Vander Plaats,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how frustrating it can be when a hardware upgrade leads to a missing feature in your daily apps, especially when your previous setup worked exactly as expected. It is certainly confusing to see fewer options in the menu after moving to a more advanced device.

The reason you are no longer seeing the "Bluetooth" option in the Teams audio menu is due to the technical shift between your two sets of hearing aids. Your older Oticon More aids used the ASHA (Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids) protocol, which Android recognizes as a distinct external accessory. This classification is what triggers the specific "Bluetooth" label in the Teams interface.

However, your new Oticon Zeal aids utilize the newer Bluetooth LE Audio standard (including the Hearing Access Profile) supported by Android 16 and the Pixel 10 Pro. In this newer ecosystem, LE Audio is often integrated directly into the primary Device audio path. This means that selecting "Device" in Teams is now intended to route the audio straight to your hearing aids, as the system treats them as the default output rather than a secondary peripheral.

If selecting "Device" does not successfully route the audio to your aids, I recommend reaching out to Pixel Phone Help or visiting specialized communities like the Hearing Aid Forum. Since the Pixel 10 Pro and your Oticon Zeal firmware are both very recent releases from late 2025 and early 2026, these resources are the best way to determine if there is a specific handshake bug in the current Android 16 build or if a manual adjustment is needed in the device settings.

The Android Teams app does not currently advertise or document support for Bluetooth LE Audio headsets or hearing aids. The Microsoft Teams Certification Program for native Bluetooth personal peripherals is, as of the latest documentation, limited to Classic Bluetooth devices, and explicitly states that Bluetooth LE Audio headsets are not yet part of the certification program.

Because LE Audio peripherals are not certified and not called out as supported, behavior such as the missing “Bluetooth” routing option in the Android Teams app when using an LE Audio-only device is expected.

For full Teams call control and reliable audio routing, use a device that:

    • Supports Classic Bluetooth for audio, or
    • Is listed as a certified native Bluetooth personal peripheral for Teams.

If the hearing aid supports both LE Audio and Classic Bluetooth/ASHA, using the non–LE Audio mode is currently the most reliable path for Teams.
