    Hello Carlee Fryman,

Thank you for posting your question to the Q&A forum!

From what you described, I understand that after turning off Sticky Keys, your keyboard stopped responding and nothing happens when you type.

In addition to the suggestions shared by Q&A Assist, here are a few more things you can try:

Please use the On‑Screen Keyboard or mouse to complete these steps.

    1. Reset keyboard accessibility settings

Open Settings > Go to Accessibility > Keyboard

Make sure all of the following are Off:

    • Sticky Keys
    • Filter Keys
    • Toggle Keys

Click Sticky Keys > turn off Allow the shortcut key to start Sticky Keys

This resets the keyboard input pipeline and removes any leftover modifiers or filters that may be blocking keystrokes.

    2. Restart Windows input services

    Press Win + R > Type services.msc

Find Human Interface Device Service (this service controls keyboard input and accessibility features)

    Right‑click > Restart

Hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes!

Try these steps in order; test typing after each one.

    1. Check keyboard accessibility settings
      • Press Windows logo key+U to open Accessibility.
      • Select Keyboard.
      • Make sure Sticky keys, Toggle keys, and Filter keys are all turned off. Filter Keys especially can make keystrokes seem to be ignored.
    2. Use the on-screen keyboard to help navigate
      • In the same Accessibility > Keyboard page, turn on the On-screen keyboard.
      • Use it to type in a text box and confirm input still works in Windows.
    3. Test the physical keyboard
      • Make sure the keyboard is clean and no keys are stuck. Debris can cause keys to be ignored or repeat.
      • If using a USB or wireless keyboard, unplug and reconnect it, try a different USB port, or replace batteries if wireless.
      • If possible, connect this keyboard to another PC to see if it works there. If it also fails, the keyboard may be faulty.
    4. Try another keyboard on this PC
      • Plug in a different USB keyboard.
      • If the second keyboard works, the original one likely has a hardware problem.
    5. Run the Keyboard troubleshooter (if you can navigate with mouse/on-screen keyboard)
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Run the Keyboard troubleshooter.

If none of the above helps and no keys work at all on any screen, the keyboard is likely experiencing a hardware failure and may need repair or replacement.
