So I tried to use Authenticator to sign into my Microsoft account, but now I am not receiving any emails from my outlook account. Can I just cancel Authenticator and go back to my usual way of signing in

    Greetings!

This is Tin, I'll do my best to help. When you added an Authenticator on your account, your MS Account might switched to requiring two factor authentication, I will suggest you to sign out your MS Account from your Outlook app and then sign it back again. You can also check if you will be able to receive an email by signing in at https://Outlook.com

To sign back in go Open Outlook click File → Account Settings → remove, after that please relaunch the Outlook app and add back your Microsoft account. Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Tin

Yes. Authenticator can be removed as a sign-in method and the account can go back to using other available methods.

For an Outlook.com / personal Microsoft account, do the following:

    1. Remove Outlook/Authenticator as a sign-in method
      1. Sign in to the Microsoft account dashboard and go to Security > Advanced security options.
      2. Under Ways to prove who you are, find the line that shows Send sign-in notification with the device name.
      3. Expand it and, under App: Microsoft Outlook, select Remove.
This stops sign-in notifications from that app and lets the account rely on other methods (password, other verification methods) again.
    2. If Outlook mobile was being used to approve sign-ins
      • In the Outlook mobile app:
        1. Go to Settings > Accounts > select the account.
        2. Select Account > Sign-in requests.
        3. Turn off the toggle for Allow sign-in requests.
    3. If access to Microsoft Authenticator itself was lost
      • Use another authentication method already configured on the account (email, phone, or other methods) to sign in.
      • If the Microsoft Authenticator backup account cannot be accessed and credentials cannot be restored, accounts must be added to Authenticator again from each service. Support agents cannot restore Authenticator data.

If email from Outlook.com is not arriving, check the inbox and junk folders and verify that sign-in is actually completing successfully using one of the allowed methods. If sign-in prompts appear that were not initiated, always choose Deny and review recent activity.
