Hi! There's no way to discover or remove the password. That would be against system and file security.

Did you create this compressed file, or did someone else create and send it?

Perhaps you accidentally set a password when you created it, or the file may have been corrupted.

Was this file sent from another device or via email? Or has it always been on your computer?

Are other compressed files also having the same problem?

A password-protected archive (such as a .zip) cannot be opened or extracted without the correct password. The password is set by whoever created the archive, and there is no supported way in Windows or File Explorer to reveal, bypass, or remove that password if it is unknown.

To proceed, the only options are:

    1. Ask the person or service that created the archive for the correct password.
    2. If the archive came from an app or website (for example, a backup/export), check that service’s help pages or confirmation emails; sometimes they document the password format or provide it separately.
    3. If the file is corrupted or incorrectly created, request a new copy from the source.

Windows and Microsoft tools do not provide any method to recover or remove an unknown password from an encrypted file or archive.
