Users unable to authenticated to Azure virtual desktop using Microsoft App

When prompted for Windows Hello Pin to access virtual desktop through the Microsoft App we get message "login attempt failed". When switching from PIN to Password we get same message. We are all properly authenticated to all other Microsoft applications. This was working fine on Monday and seems to have started just today.

    I restarted the VM and can now authenticate. Not sure why that corrected the issues as there were no indications of any issues but I now have access
