when i try to type microsoft word says there is an error and hence difficult to type and i just want to create notes

To better assist you, could you please provide the following information: 

• The exact error message you see (a screenshot is perfect). 
• Does the issue happen with all documents or a specific file only? 
• If you try a new blank document, can you type normally? 
• Any add‑ins recently installed/updated? 
• Where is the file stored (email attachment, OneDrive/SharePoint, network drive)? 
• Your Microsoft Word/Office version (Microsoft 365, 2021, 2019…) and whether it’s activated.

In the meantime, as a workaround, you may try the steps below: 

1/ New blank doc:  
Open Word > Blank document > try typing. 

2/ Enable editing:  

If you see a yellow bar (“Protected View” / “Read‑Only”), click Enable Editing.  

Also check Review > Restrict Editing and turn it off if active. 

3/ Safe Mode test:  

Press Win + R > winword /safe > Enter.  

If typing works in Safe Mode, go to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage: COM Add‑ins > Go… and uncheck all add‑ins.  

Restart Word and re‑enable add‑ins one by one to find the culprit. 

4/ Save locally:  

Use File > Save As to save a copy to Desktop/Documents and test there (avoid network locations or opening directly from email). 

If you have an active Microsoft 365 license and need to take notes immediately, you might consider:

• Open Word online and try typing there. 
• OneNote for quick, searchable notes. 
• Sticky Notes or Notepad for very quick text capture.

Follow these steps to fix Word so typing works normally again:

1. Repair the Office/Word installation
   1. Close Word and all other Office apps.
   2. Open Settings in Windows.
   3. Go to System (if needed) > Apps > Installed apps.
   4. Find Microsoft Office (or Microsoft 365 Apps), select it, and choose Modify.
   5. Select Online Repair, then choose Repair and let it complete.
   6. Restart the computer and try opening Word to type notes again.
2. If Word still shows an error when typing
   1. Uninstall Office from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
   2. Restart the computer (use Restart, not Shut down).
   3. Install Office again from the Microsoft account or school account portal that provides it.

These steps repair damaged Word/Office files that cause the “has run into an error” message and should allow normal typing and note creation.
