Hello:

I have another account under the email: <Mod mask PII> mmm @gmail.com. I didn't realise that instead of updating my subscription, I was purchasing a new account. I would like to merge both accounts if possible. I think the new account is to my husband's email: <Mod mask PII> aaa @gmail.com

Thank you

Maria

    Hi Maria,

It is not feasible to merge two Microsoft accounts, even if both are utilized for Microsoft 365 subscriptions. Each subscription and its associated data are linked to the specific Microsoft account that was utilized during the purchase, rendering it impossible to combine them into a single account.

If the subscription was acquired under a different email address, the available option is to manage each account independently. If you desire all data under one account, you may consider canceling the newly purchased subscription (if it is still eligible for cancellation or refund) and subsequently subscribing again using the appropriate account.

Alternatively, if there are files or data associated with the new account, they would need to be manually shared or transferred to the other account, as Microsoft accounts cannot be merged.

Merging or combining Microsoft accounts is not supported, so the two accounts under the different email addresses cannot be merged into a single Microsoft account, and subscriptions, purchases, or data cannot be transferred between them.

To use only one subscription going forward while keeping both email addresses active:

    1. Decide which Microsoft account should keep the active Microsoft 365 subscription (for example, the one already used most often).
    2. On the other account, sign in to the Microsoft account portal and cancel the extra Microsoft 365 subscription so it does not renew. Canceling the subscription does not delete that Microsoft account or its email address; it only stops future billing.
    3. Both email addresses can still be added as separate accounts in Outlook so mail and calendars can be used side by side in one app.

It is not possible to merge the accounts or consolidate the two subscriptions into one; they must be managed separately, and only one subscription kept active.
