I’m trying to upgrade my laptop from Windows 7 (64-bit, 8 GB RAM, Intel i5-5200U) to Windows 10. When I use the Media Creation Tool, I get the error 0x80072F8F – 0x20000. Can you guide me on how to complete the upgrade safely while keeping my files?

This error is also very common when upgrading from Windows 7 to 10. It usually occurs when there is a problem with the date and time, security certificate, or networking that prevents Windows from validating the upgrade.
This list will be the start of the troubleshooting.
- Backup files before upgrading.(Most Important) - I suggest to backup first before going full troubleshooting
- Correct your system date/time.
- Install all Windows 7 updates, especially KB3033929.
- Provide me the make and model of your device
