Thanks for posting. I understand how frustrating it is when Windows keeps undoing a setting you’ve intentionally chosen. Please try the following:
Step 1: Check whether the active theme is overriding your wallpaper
- Go to Settings > “Personalization” > “Themes”
- Temporarily switch to “Windows (light)” or “Windows (dark)”
- Go back to Background and set your photo again
Step 2: Disable Microsoft account personalization sync
If you sign in with a Microsoft account, Windows can re‑apply a theme from the cloud.
- Open Settings > “Accounts” > “Windows backup”
- Turn off “Remember my preferences”
- Or specifically turn off “Personalization”
- Restart the PC, then set your wallpaper again
If you use virtual desktops:
- Go to Settings > Personalization > Background
- Right‑click the image under “Recent images”
- Choose “Set for all desktops”
Otherwise, Windows may keep applying a different image when switching desktops
