Question

Could you please inform me what is my Microsoft ID? I am trying to sign up to take a test wit Pearson, and being asking for my Microsoft ID. I am not able to find it.

MCP ID/MC IDs have not been used since the merger of Certification profiles and Learn profiles in 2024. Your Microsoft Learn username is now your unique ID.

Do you mean MS ID? This is used by Pearson Vue and the easiest way to get this is to start with an exam on your Microsoft Learn profile https://learn.microsoft.com/users/me/credentials/?tab=credentials-tab and select View details on provider site https://learn.microsoft.com/credentials/certifications/schedule-through-pearson-vue?action=1 expand the navigation bar and it will at the top-left of the screen

For Pearson VUE Microsoft certification exams, the “Microsoft ID” requested is the Microsoft account used with Microsoft Learn and Microsoft certification services. This is normally just the email address that is the Microsoft account, not a separate numeric ID.

To identify that Microsoft account:

1. Verify which email is a Microsoft account
   • Go to https://account.microsoft.com and enter the email address intended for certification use.
   • If a password prompt appears, that email is a valid Microsoft account.
   • If the message “We couldn't find an account with that username” or “That Microsoft account doesn't exist” appears, that address is not a Microsoft account; try another email or correct the spelling/domain.
2. Recover or look up the Microsoft account if sign-in fails
   • If the password is forgotten, follow the steps in Reset your password from the “I can't sign in to my Microsoft account” guidance.
   • If the password is known but no longer works, use the Sign-in Helper tool linked in the same article.
   • If the email/username itself is forgotten, use the Look up your Microsoft account option described there.
3. Find the Microsoft account from devices or apps already in use
   • On Windows 10/11 where already signed in: select Start > Settings > Accounts > Email & app accounts and check the Microsoft account usernames listed.
   • In Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.): open an app, go to File > Account, and look under Belongs to to see the Microsoft account associated with that installation.

The email address confirmed by these steps is what Pearson VUE expects as the “Microsoft ID” when registering for a Microsoft exam.
