Feature Request – Optional AI System Assistance for Legacy Devices

Dear Microsoft Team,

I am a professional user working with SQL Server on Windows 11 Pro (24H2). I have faced repeated installation and configuration issues due to missing system components.

My request is to add an optional feature in Windows that allows users to enable or disable advanced AI-assisted troubleshooting. This feature would give explicit consent for an AI companion to interact deeply with the system, detect missing components, and guide the installation process seamlessly.

Such a feature would be extremely valuable for users with older or limited hardware, as it would reduce dependency on manual troubleshooting and ensure smoother compatibility without requiring new devices.

Thank you for considering this request.

Best regards,

Yasser

Windows 11 already includes AI-assisted capabilities in the form of Copilot in Windows, which provides centralized assistance and can help perform actions such as changing system settings, taking screenshots, and summarizing content from the active Microsoft Edge tab. Copilot in Windows appears as a sidebar and uses the same Microsoft account or Microsoft Entra ID account used to sign in to Windows. It can be opened from the taskbar or by pressing WIN + C.

These AI features are delivered and updated through Windows configuration and quality updates. On AI-capable Windows 11 devices, the latest AI-related components are installed via Windows Update. The update history for AI components can be reviewed under Settings > Windows Update > Update history.

For feature suggestions such as deeper, opt-in AI troubleshooting for legacy or constrained hardware, the appropriate path is to submit feedback directly through Windows. This can be done using the built-in feedback mechanisms (for example, via Settings pages that already expose “Give feedback” for related areas like Troubleshoot). Feedback submitted there is routed to the product teams responsible for Windows features and future AI improvements.
