I keep turning off the setting that creates a teams video link when people book a meeting with me, but it keeps defaulting back to creating a teams video link. How do I fix this?

    Dear Nikki Venezia,

Good day, and thank you for taking the time to share the issue you are experiencing. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and I appreciate the opportunity to assist.

From your explanation, I understand that you have already turned off the option that automatically adds a Microsoft Teams meeting link. However, when someone books a meeting with you, the system continues to generate a Teams meeting link by default.

To better understand the situation and help identify the root cause, could you please confirm where you disabled the Teams meeting option? For instance, was it turned off in your Outlook settings, in the Microsoft Bookings service settings, or within the configuration of your specific Bookings page?

It would also be helpful if you could let me know whether the booking link you are using belongs to a Personal Booking Page or a Shared Booking Page.

If you are using a Personal Booking Page and the Teams meeting option has already been switched off, but the system still adds a Teams link automatically, I would like to share that I am seeing the same behavior in my own test environment. Several other users have also reported similar experiences, which suggests that this may not be an isolated case.

For your reference, in my own testing environment, the Teams meeting option is fully turned off in the settings.

However, the resulting booking still generates a Teams meeting link

You may also find the following discussion helpful, as it describes a similar situation that another user has reported: MS Bookings will not allow me to turn off the Teams Meeting option on Microsoft Q&A.

After testing on my side, I observed that the behavior works correctly when using a Shared Booking Page. When the option to add an online meeting is turned off in the service settings, the booking no longer includes a Microsoft Teams meeting link. Because of this, using a Shared Booking Page may serve as a practical workaround if this approach fits your scenario.

To disable the online meeting option on a Shared Booking Page:

    • When creating a new booking page:  At Step 3 of 4 – Edit service, select Change

Then untick the “Make this a Teams meeting” option.

    • If you already have a Shared Booking Page: Navigate to Services > Edit service

Then toggle off “Add online meeting.” > Save changes

Once this option is disabled, the booking created through the Shared Booking Page should no longer automatically include a Microsoft Teams meeting link

Additionally, as this behavior may be related to the product's current functionality, I would recommend submitting feedback directly to the Microsoft product team so it can be reviewed and considered for future improvements. Customer feedback plays an important role, as product teams actively review user input when evaluating potential changes and enhancements.

As a Microsoft Q&A forum moderator, my role is to assist by providing guidance and sharing available information. I am not involved in product design decisions and do not have visibility into or influence over the product development roadmap. While I understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, please know that your feedback is acknowledged and appreciated.

You can submit feedback directly to Microsoft via the Word web (Help > Feedback), or through Feedback Hub by

Go to: Microsoft 365 Feedback Hub > Send Feedback > Describe your issue in detail.

Sharing your experience through the Microsoft 365 Feedback Hub is a very impactful way to advocate for enhancements that can benefit both you and other users who may be facing similar challenges.

Thank you once again for your patience and for taking the time to bring this matter forward. Although I am not able to modify the product design myself, I am more than happy to assist with any questions you may have about the current behavior or available features. Your insights are genuinely valuable, and feedback like yours plays an important role in guiding ongoing improvements to the overall product experience.

If you need any additional support, please do not hesitate to let me know. I will be glad to help.
Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.

In Outlook, the behavior of always adding a Teams link is controlled by the “Add online meeting to all meetings” setting. When this is enabled, Outlook will keep adding a Teams meeting link by default, even if it is manually removed for individual bookings.

To stop Outlook from automatically adding a Teams link to new meetings:

    1. Open Outlook (web or other Outlook client where the calendar/booking is configured).
    2. Go to the Options/Settings menu for that Outlook client.
    3. Locate the setting named Add online meeting to all meetings.
    4. Turn this setting Off.

    Notes:

    • This feature applies to Microsoft 365 accounts and is enabled by default when a Teams license is present.
    • If an admin has configured the default for the organization using PowerShell (OnlineMeetingsByDefaultEnabled via Set-OrganizationConfig), that only sets the default. Once the mailbox owner changes the setting in Outlook as above, the user’s choice takes precedence and should stop Teams links from being added automatically.

If the toggle keeps reverting after being changed in Outlook, an admin should verify the mailbox and organization configuration, but cannot override or read the per-client setting once it has been changed by the user.
