Microsoft 365 doesn’t seem to be compatible with android 14

Question

I have an android tablet running Microsoft Office 365. In word I try to type a sentence and press enter. The type words that I just input it from the keyboard under the screen disappear every time. I believe I have some sort of a glitch with Microsoft Word that is not compatible with android 14 tablet.

Can you help me?

The behavior where text disappears as typing is typically caused by Overtype mode, not by Android 14 incompatibility.

On Word desktop, this is controlled by the Insert key and the Use overtype mode setting. On mobile, similar behavior can appear if the app is in a mode that replaces existing characters instead of inserting.

Recommended steps:

1. Check if the issue is specific to one document
   • Create a brand-new Word document on the tablet.
   • Type a few words, press Enter, then type more text.
   • If the problem only occurs in one file, the document itself may be corrupted; copy the content into a new document.
2. Update the Word/Office app
   • Open Google Play Store on the tablet.
   • Search for Microsoft Word (or Microsoft 365 app if using the unified app).
   • Install any available updates.
3. Restart the device and app
   • Fully close Word/Office (remove it from Recent apps).
   • Restart the tablet.
   • Reopen Word and test again.
4. Reinstall the app (non-destructive, but always ensure files are synced/backed up)
   • Confirm documents are saved to OneDrive, SharePoint, or another cloud location.
   • Uninstall Word (or Microsoft 365 app) from the tablet.
   • Restart the tablet.
