To request a refund, the subscription must be canceled first. Steps depend on what was purchased and where.
For Microsoft 365, Copilot Pro, or other Microsoft subscriptions bought directly from Microsoft:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services (or for Microsoft 365 specifically, https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365).
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to buy the subscription.
- Under Services & subscriptions, find the subscription and select Manage.
- If you see Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and will not be charged again.
- On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on the subscription).
- Follow the on-screen steps to complete cancellation.
Refund eligibility:
- For Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium, and for Copilot Pro, refund eligibility is determined after cancellation. Not all cancellations result in a refund.
- If Copilot Pro is canceled within the specified refund window, a refund is issued; after that window, recurring billing must be turned off instead.
- In some countries (for example Canada, Israel, Korea, Turkey, and certain longer-term subscriptions in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, and Portugal), canceling may entitle to a prorated refund. Details are in the “Countries with prorated refunds for Microsoft subscriptions” article linked from the refund help pages.
If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or Apple App Store, cancellation and any refund must be requested from their support pages, not from Microsoft.
If the charge is not recognized, use the Manage your payments section of the Microsoft account dashboard to investigate the charge first, then follow the same cancellation and refund steps if it is a Microsoft subscription.
