AI Generated backgrounds

Question

Is there any way to choose only REAL background photos in stead of AI generated photos as a background on my screen. I still want to see the background change. However, I don't like the fake looking AI generated ones.

Go to:

Settings > Personalization > Background > Personalize your background

and choose whichever background you like. The choice is yours.

To see the background change, select Slideshow and then complete the additional choices to customize your slideshow the way you like.

But that's not all! If you'd rather not choose photos from your own collection, go to:

Settings > Personalization > Themes > Browse themes

to choose from literally dozens of themes from Microsoft Store. Something for everyone.

If you have selected Windows Spotlight as a background option, it includes natural pictures. No pictures are AI generated.

Windows 11 does not provide a specific toggle to “exclude AI-generated images” from all changing backgrounds, but it is possible to use only real photos and still have the background change by controlling the source of the images.

Use a personal slideshow of real photos

1. Open Settings > Personalization > Background.
2. In Personalize your background, select Slideshow.
3. Under Choose a picture album for a slideshow, select a folder that contains only real photos.
4. Adjust the Change picture every setting to control how often the background changes.

This ensures that only the images in the chosen folder (your real photos) are used, and the background still rotates.

Use Bing Wallpaper for daily real photos If daily real-world photography is preferred, install and use the Bing Wallpaper app, which “automatically updates your desktop background with the Bing image of the day, showcasing stunning photographs from around the world.” This app focuses on photographic images rather than AI-styled artwork.
