How is the newly introduced (within in the last couple of months) Bing Star Bonus that you claim at the end of the month calculated? It says it depends on tier level and activity, but I am gold and my activity is high and in the last two months I have only accrued 3 points.

I looked over the information and I am meeting all the things to "maximise points", doing legitimate searches and following the terms and conditions but it doesn't appear to make any difference.

I have raised this issue a few times with support and the first time the email went to spam and so I missed it and it was closed as I did not respond within 3 days, it was only a copy of what was available publicly and that in the ticket raised I said I was following. The second time I raised it my concern wasn't addressed in the same way and it was immediately closed (I couldn't reply to it) and in the ticket was advised to raise another ticked if I need to speak about it. I did that and the third ticket was immediately closed as a duplicate and I was told to respond to the closed ticked (which I had referenced in this ticket had been closed).

It is not clear online how this is calculated, and I suspect that lack of transparency is something that is impacting support staff as they don't seem clear on it either. I can't feasibly see how I could be doing more to maximise my points so I am curious how this is calculated so I can determine if it is indeed a bug which it seems to be.

The calculation details for the new Bing Star Bonus are not documented in the available material. The only documented status-based behavior for Microsoft Rewards is the general tier system (Level 1 and Level 2) and how those tiers affect earning rates and offers, not the specific end‑of‑month Star Bonus formula.

Because the calculation method is not published, support and community resources cannot confirm or troubleshoot the exact number of bonus points awarded beyond verifying that the account is in good standing and meets general Rewards requirements and policies.

For issues where the awarded Star Bonus appears incorrect or extremely low despite high, legitimate activity, the only supported escalation path is direct Microsoft Rewards support review of the account:

    1. Go to the Rewards Support page at https://rewards.bing.com/support.
    2. Sign in with the affected Microsoft account.
    3. Use “Contact Microsoft Rewards Support” and clearly describe:
      • That the question is specifically about the Bing Star Bonus calculation/amount.
      • Tier level and approximate daily activity pattern.
      • That previous tickets were closed without resolving the calculation concern.
    4. If a ticket is closed automatically or marked as duplicate, open a new one referencing the prior ticket number and stating that the issue remains unresolved.

If the balance or bonus amounts appear inconsistent more broadly (for example, dashboard vs. expected earnings), also verify that:

    • Give Mode is not enabled, as this can change how points are reflected. See the “Give with Bing FAQ” linked from the Rewards documentation.
    • The correct Microsoft account is being used and that browser data is syncing properly with the Rewards database.
    • No activity suggests earning points from outside the current market, which can affect Rewards behavior.

However, without published rules for the Star Bonus calculation, only the internal Rewards team can confirm whether the 3‑point bonuses are expected for the specific account or the result of a bug or policy flag.
