tab disappeared

the tab on Microsoft word that says do you want to start where you left off has disappeared

The Welcome Back prompt won't display forever, as Rodrigo said. Note that if you ignore the prompt and then close the document without making any changes, you may not see the prompt at all the next time you (re-)open the doc.

Also, keep in mind that you will only see the prompt if the document you are opening has more than one page and the last edit was made elsewhere than the first page.

This tab shows when you open the document, but it closes as soon as you select or scroll the page. It is just a bookmark of the last location the cursor was. Once you select any location on the page or scrolled, it is not possible to restore it.
