Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

To help narrow down the issue:

    1. Are you using Microsoft 365 Personal/Family, or is this a Microsoft 365 Business subscription?
    2. Are you seeing this message on a Windows PC or a Mac?
    3. When you sign in to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/services does the subscription show as active there, or still unpaid?

If you haven't tried anything yet:

    • Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account that the subscription is linked to.
    • Then, open any Office app (like Word or Excel), go to File > Account, and click "Update License" to refresh your subscription status.

    If issue still persists:

Before installing, it’s a good idea to uninstall all existing versions of Office to avoid conflicts.

    Here’s how (Windows):

    • Open the Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    • Look for any version of Microsoft Office or Office apps, right-click, then choose Uninstall. Please uninstall all Office apps.
    • Once that’s done, restart your computer just to be safe.

If you're using Mac, to uninstall all Office app: https://support.microsoft.com/office/uninstall-office-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3

    Then, to reinstall Microsoft Office:

    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services again.
    • Sign in using the same Microsoft account linked to your license.
    • Find your Microsoft 365 Subscription and click the "Install".
    • That will download the installer for the Office apps, just run it and follow the steps.

If anything’s unclear or the "Install" option still doesn’t show, feel free to let me know. I’ll be happy to walk you through it!

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

Service interruption after a payment usually means the subscription is still marked as past due or not correctly renewed on the Microsoft side, even though the card was charged.

Use these steps to restore service:

    1. Confirm the subscription status and past-due balance
      • Go to Services & subscriptions and sign in with the Microsoft account used for the subscription: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      • Find the Microsoft 365 subscription and check whether it shows Past due, Expired, or a prompt to Buy, Renew, or Reactivate.
    2. If the subscription shows as past due
Follow the official past-due flow to clear the balance:
      • In Services & subscriptions, locate the past-due subscription and select Pay now.
      • Verify the payment method (card number, expiration date, name, and billing address) and update it if needed.
      • Complete the payment by selecting Next.
Note: Gift cards, subscription cards, or Microsoft account balance cannot be used to pay a past-due subscription.
    3. If the card was declined or partially processed
      • A card can be declined even if it appears on the bank side; Microsoft will send an email stating it was unable to process the payment.
      • Double-check card details and available funds, then update the card and resubmit the payment from the subscription page.
      • If the decline persists, contact the bank (Chase) to confirm the transaction was authorized and that no security block is in place.
    4. If the issue is related to strong customer authentication (SCA)
      • For some regions, the bank may require multi-factor authentication to complete the charge.
      • If an email was received stating multi-factor authentication is required, follow the instructions in that email to authenticate and complete the payment.
      • If no code is received or the code fails, use the Resend code option and, if still unsuccessful, contact the bank to validate contact info and SCA settings.
    5. If Office apps show “Product Deactivated” or subscription notices
      • After clearing any past-due status or successfully renewing, restart the Office apps.
      • If they still show a subscription notice, follow the steps in A subscription notice appears when I open a Microsoft 365 application (linked from the documentation) to reactivate the apps.
    6. If payment is correct but service is still interrupted
      • Verify that the charge for $90.99 on the Chase card ending in 4669 appears in the order history of the same Microsoft account used for the subscription.
      • If the charge appears at the bank but not in the Microsoft order history, or if the subscription remains interrupted after the above steps, contact Microsoft Support directly and provide the date, amount, and last four digits of the card so the billing team can reconcile the payment and restore service.
