I receive the error message that Outlook 365 could not synchronize folders for a Gmail IMAP account (0x800CCC0E). Cannot connect to the server. The is the full Outlook app and not Outlook.com.

    Hi everyone,

Try recreating the Outlook profile. This solved the issue for me!

Step 1: Open the Mail Setup

Since you can't always do this from inside a glitchy Outlook app, we’ll use the Control Panel.

    Close Outlook completely.

Open your Start Menu, type Control Panel, and open it.

In the search bar at the top right of the Control Panel, type Mail.

    Click on Mail (Microsoft Outlook).

Step 2: Create the New Profile

In the window that pops up, click the Show Profiles... button.

    Click Add.

Type a name for your new profile (e.g., "New Outlook 2026") and click OK.

    1. Follow the prompts to enter your name, email address, and password. Outlook will attempt to find your mail server settings automatically.

So... I solved this problem. What helped me was to repair all Gmail accounts in Outlook (File - Account settings - select Gmail account - click 'Repair" button). This forced re-authentication and re-authorization for the account and fixed the problem.

    Hello

Many users seem to have this issue recently. Microsoft is still investigating this issue. The current workaround is published here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/users-get-errors-0x800ccc0e-0x800ccc0f-synchronizing-gmail-and-yahoo-accounts-in-classic-outlook-e5a7b684-7c5c-4848-ab2d-d48291451f67

Error 0x800CCC0E when synchronizing a Gmail IMAP account in classic Outlook is a known issue related to how the Gmail account is authorized and/or IMAP is configured.

Use these steps to fix it:

    1. Confirm IMAP is enabled in Gmail
      1. In a browser, go to Gmail.
      2. Select Settings (gear icon) > See all settings.
      3. Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
      4. Under IMAP access, select Enable IMAP.
      5. Select Save Changes.
    2. Verify Outlook is on a fixed build
      • For classic Outlook with Gmail, Microsoft has released fixes for connection/sign-in issues.
      • Make sure Outlook (Microsoft 365 Apps) is updated to a build that includes the Gmail fixes (for example, Current Channel Version 2404 or later for sign-in issues, and Version 2412 Build 18324.20168 or later for the “Retry” Gmail consent fix).
      • In Outlook, go to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now to update.
    3. Re-run the Google consent with the correct permission If the account was added but cannot sync and shows 0x800CCC0E, it can be because the required Gmail permission was not granted during sign-in.
      • When the error dialog appears in Outlook for the Gmail account, select the Retry link (available on fixed builds starting with Current Channel Version 2412 Build 18324.20168).
      • A browser window opens for Google sign-in.
      • Sign in to the Gmail account and, when prompted to select what Microsoft apps & services can access, make sure the option is checked:
        • “Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail.”
      • Complete the sign-in and let Outlook resync.
    4. If Retry is not available or does not work, remove and re-add the Gmail account after fixing Gmail settings
      • First ensure IMAP is enabled in Gmail (Step 1 above).
      • In Outlook classic, remove the Gmail account from File > Account Settings > Account Settings….
      • Close and restart Outlook.
      • Add the Gmail account again from File > Add Account, and complete the Google sign-in in the browser, ensuring the Gmail permission “Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail.” is selected.
    5. If Outlook reports “The browser or app may not be secure” or “We weren’t able to set up your Google account with IMAP”
      • These are also known Gmail/Outlook sign-in issues that have been fixed by opening sign-in in another browser window.
      • Ensure Outlook is updated to a build that includes this fix (for Outlook for Microsoft 365 classic, for example Current Channel Version 2404 Build 17531.10000 or later).
      • If previously switched to an Insider channel as a workaround, switch back to Current Channel after updating.
    6. Confirm IMAP server settings if using manual configuration If the account is configured manually, verify the Gmail IMAP/SMTP settings:
      • Incoming (IMAP) server: imap.gmail.com, SSL required, Port 993
      • Outgoing (SMTP) server: smtp.gmail.com
        • SSL: Port 465, or
        • TLS/STARTTLS: Port 587
      • Authentication required for SMTP
      • Username: full Gmail address
      • Password: Gmail password (or app password if using that model)

After these steps, Outlook should be able to connect to Gmail’s IMAP servers and synchronize folders without error 0x800CCC0E.
