A cloud-based identity and access management service for securing user authentication and resource access
If the original Microsoft Entra tenant has already been deleted, it cannot be recovered. A tenant that has been inaccessible due to inactivity for more than 20 days is permanently deleted and isn’t recoverable.
To continue using Azure and Microsoft Entra ID, create a new tenant:
- Ensure there is an active Azure subscription associated with the account. Only paid customers can create a new workforce tenant; free or trial tenants can’t create additional tenants from the Microsoft Entra admin center.
- Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center.
- Create a new tenant following the “Create a new tenant in Microsoft Entra ID” process:
- Choose tenant type (Microsoft Entra tenant or Azure AD B2C tenant).
- Provide organization name.
- Provide initial domain (for example,
contoso.onmicrosoft.com). - Select country/region.
- Complete the wizard and create the tenant. The account that creates the tenant is automatically assigned the Global Administrator role in the new tenant.
If the previous tenant is only blocked due to inactivity and not yet deleted (blocked less than 20 days), the tenant administrator can contact Microsoft using the global support phone numbers to request reactivation instead of creating a new tenant.
