My Hotmail account won’t send emails.

I can receive emails but can’t send any.

error code is Remote server returned '550 5.7.501 Service unavailable. Spam abuse detected from IP range. AS(130)'

Can you use the instruction here, change the email to plain text or rich text format (basically avoid the html format) and see if it goes through:

How do I do this on the app for iPhone? Even when I open it in explorer I can’t find the functionality to switch from HTML to rich or plain. The real question is why should I have to? What’s changed with the app or platform? Can it be changed?

Ah sorry, didn't realize you are doing this from your mobile app.

In this case, unfortunately it cannot be done on the app. This option is not available on mobile version.

I will provide a bit context how this happened.

In the email industry, each sending IP address carries a reputation score. That score is influenced by how much spam or abusive activity is associated with that IP address or its broader IP range. If too much abuse is detected, the reputation drops. When it falls too low, other email providers may start rejecting messages coming from that range.

To address the problem and restore the IP reputation, the email service provider usually has to tighten its outbound spam filtering. Since a large volume of spam is sent in HTML format, messages sent as HTML are often more likely to be caught under these stricter filters. Once the IP reputation improves, the filtering is typically relaxed again. This problem is not permanent and it is temporary.

Hard to say since no one here determines this.. But I've seen this happen several times last year in different regions, it could last for a few weeks. IP score works like credit score, very fluid..

The emails will sync to your phone, but not the format change itself.
