    Hi prashanth m|g,

Thanks for your post. I’m happy to help look into this with you. Please try these troubleshooting steps (in order)

Step 1 – Check whether the touchpad device is hidden in Device Manager

Sometimes the touchpad driver is present but hidden.

    1. Right‑click “Start” > select “Device Manager”
    2. Click “View” > select “Show hidden devices”
    3. Expand “Human Interface Devices” and “Mice and other pointing devices”
    4. If you see a touchpad device listed but greyed out, right‑click it and select “Enable device”

Step 2 – Reinstall the touchpad driver

If the driver is corrupted, reinstalling it allows Windows to reload a clean copy.

    1. Open “Device Manager”
    2. Right‑click the touchpad device > select “Uninstall device”
    3. Restart the PC
    4. After restart, Windows will automatically reinstall the driver

Step 3 – Check Windows Update for optional driver updates

OEM touchpad drivers are often delivered as optional updates.

    1. Open “Settings” > “Windows Update”
    2. Select “Advanced options” > “Optional updates”
    3. Install any available driver updates related to input, HID, Synaptics, or ELAN
    4. Restart the device

Step 4 – Check touchpad status in BIOS/UEFI (HP systems)

If Windows cannot detect the touchpad at all, it may be disabled at firmware level.

    1. Shut down the PC
    2. Power it on and immediately tap F10 (HP BIOS)
    3. Look for “Built‑in Device Options” or “Touchpad”
    4. Ensure it is set to “Enabled”, then save and exit

If the touchpad is disabled in BIOS, Windows will not be able to detect it.

Should be Fn+F5, but I'm not sure, don't have HP laptop.

Maybe it's disabled. There should be touchpad icon on one of F keys. Press Fn + that F key and try to enable it.

Of course, check device manager if there is active driver for your touchpad.

Also, check in Settings, Bluetooth & devices, Touchpad if it's enabled in Windows.
