My screen does not look like the exercise screen.

Is there a different version of the user windows in Foundry? I'm working on exercises to learn the system, and when I follow the directions, the system takes me to a page that looks different and has different options than the exercise. Is it possible I'm defaulted to a newer version of the Foundry page and the exercise is from some old version?

Specifically, trying to select a model to create a new project, deploying the model takes me to an entirely different page with different options/tools than the exercise says I should be seeing.

It may be that the screenshot in the exercise is outdated and has changed. This is common with the documentation as it can be updated much later.

The exercise states that after creating a project, I should select "Deploy" for the model. However, there is no "Deploy" option. I get this screen instead:

I can go under "start building" and choose "browse models" and then locate gpt-4.1, but the exercise implies that by creating the project around gpt-4.1 I shouldn't need to. Also, when I browse models and choose the appropriate model, I get the following screen:

However, according to the exercise, I should be seeing this screen:

It's clear that I'm not seeing the screen I'm supposed to. So I figure either something is wrong with my access, but I don't think it is. Or maybe there's a newer version? Either my foundry account is using the newer version and the exercise hasn't caught up, or the exercise is using a newer version and my account is on some legacy version.

Like everything that is new, it takes me a bit of time to get my head around where things are as they have been moved 😎

What we are both seeing is the newer layout, not the old layout. If you look at the top of the web page, you will see a toggle for the new Foundry.

On the home screen, please click onto 'Build' on the top navigation menu

This will open your project where you can build and control your project. On the left-hand navigation menu, please click onto 'Modules'

This will display modules that have been deployed on your project. If you haven't deployed one yet, then it will be blank. To deploy a base module, please click onto 'Deploy a base model'

You will be taken to a page where you can browse modules that are available. Just be careful with the pricing if you are like me and playing around with Foundry. Otherwise you may get unexpected charges.

What I also found was up to date documentation from within the portal. On the top navigation menu, please click onto 'Docs'

These docs will walk you through how to build your project using the new layout.

Thanks very much Nathan for the help, it looks like your screen is just like mine. I don't think it's my permissions, I figured with the speed at which AI services are developing, the user interfaces are evolving faster than the training materials, which affects which menus and tabs show up on each screen. I was able to get where you stated already, I used the "start building" button whereas you used the build, but I think I got to the same spot.

The main question I had was the fact that the exercise had us selecting the gpt-4.1 model first, and then creating the project, and it implied that the gpt-4.1 model would be already there and ready to click the DEPLOY after creating the project. Seems like it's not an option with the way I did it, also with the method you described. My main concern was whether I was going to the wrong page somehow, since I had to go back in and select gpt-4.1.

I do appreciate the warning about unexpected charges...I've been worried about that because it doesn't seem that there's an intuitive way of knowing what I'll be charged for when I'm following exercise instructions, I'm just hoping they don't lead me into a multi-hundred-dollar charge! 😬

I do appreciate the assistance though, seeing that your attempt to follow the path led you to the same screens helps me know I was at least somewhat on the right path!

I didn't think of using that method. This is probably the devs thinking this would be easier then going to discover.

This used to be the case on the previous design. I remember when I first created a project to test with, it asked you to select which model you were going to use. The others were ones you had to apply for and the -4.1 model was the only one available.

My main concern was whether I was going to the wrong page somehow, since I had to go back in and select gpt-4.1.

I think this is because there are so many models to choose from now, rather then 3 they had previously. I know you mentioned you have selected gpt-4.1, but just wanted to let you (and others from the community) know there is a search bar where you can search for models
