    Hello idk,

Before suggesting steps, I just want to confirm a couple of things to make sure the advice is relevant to your setup:

    • How is the controller connected to your PC — Bluetooth, the Xbox Wireless Adapter, or USB cable?
    • Did anything change around the time it stopped working — a Windows update, new software, or hardware changes?

I’ll wait for your reply with the requested details so we can continue.

Try these steps in order on the Windows 11 PC to fix wireless Xbox controllers not connecting:

    1. Confirm Bluetooth/Xbox Wireless is on and working
    • On the PC, select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
    • Make sure Bluetooth is turned On.
    • If using a Surface Studio, Surface Book 2 15" or Surface Book 3 15", Xbox Wireless is built in. Note that Xbox wireless is disabled on these models in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Japan due to RF rules.
    1. Put the controller into pairing mode correctly
    • On the controller, press and hold the Xbox button until it lights up.
    • Then press and hold the Connect button (on top of the controller) until the Xbox button starts flashing rapidly. This means it is discoverable.
    1. Re-add the controller in Windows 11
    • Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
    • If the controller is listed but not connecting, select … (More options) > Remove device.
    • Select Add device > Everything else.
    • Choose Xbox Wireless Controller from the list and follow any prompts, then select Done.
    1. Check Bluetooth basics If the controller still won’t connect:
    • Move the controller closer to the PC.
    • Replace or fully charge the controller batteries.
    • Turn the controller off and back on, then repeat pairing.
    1. Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter (Windows 11)
    • Open the Get Help app and run the Bluetooth troubleshooter using the Troubleshoot Bluetooth not connecting option. It will automatically check configuration, driver, and service issues and attempt fixes.
    1. If using a different Surface model
    • For Surface devices without built-in Xbox Wireless, follow the guidance in connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to PC from the Xbox support link in the reference article.

If none of these steps work and the controller used to work previously, test the controller on another device (such as an Xbox console or another PC). If it also fails there, service or replacement for the controller may be needed.
