When my computer did not respond properly, I received a message to call an 800 number to connect to Microsoft Defender and was connected with Paul Harris. He worked on my computer for many hours for 3 days because I was hacked.

I am concerned because something didn't seem right when he told me to get a gift card for $500 for a microsoft lifetime security system.

My computer has been compromised by him and I would like someone from Microsoft to check my computer for any discrepancies he entered into my system. I am having a large deposit to buy my home next week and do not want to deposit any monies in my BOA account until I know my information is secured. Please help me. Janice Maleyeff Sparks.

    Janice Maleyeff,

Microsoft would never contact you unsolicited to request access to your computer or claim that it has been compromised. Please do not grant remote access to anyone claiming to be Microsoft.

Depending on the extent of the impact, you may need to reinstall the operating system or have the device cleaned by a certified professional. If you have a Microsoft support contract, I recommend opening an official support case so the issue can be properly assessed and addressed.

    To Raise a support Ticket:

    • Go to the Azure Portal.
    • Click on the Help + support option in the left-hand menu.
    • Select New support request.
    • Follow the prompts to create a support ticket explaining your issue.
