    Hi, I'm John!

This usually happens when there is a problem with the existing subscription state on the account.

    Just to double-check:

    • Sign in to your Microsoft account Services page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • Check if you already have a OneDrive or Microsoft 365 subscription listed there.
    • If you see one that is expired, pending payment, or canceled, try updating the payment method or clearing the balance first.

You can also try these quick steps:

    • Sign out of your Microsoft account, then sign back in and try again.
    • Try purchasing from a different browser or an InPrivate/Incognito window.

If issue persists, to help narrow down the issue:

    1. Are you trying to buy OneDrive 100 GB storage, or upgrade to Microsoft 365?
    2. Do you currently see any expired or past-due subscriptions in your Microsoft account services page?
    3. Are you purchasing from the OneDrive website or the Microsoft account page?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

The error itself is not documented in the context, but the supported ways to resolve OneDrive purchase/upgrade issues are:

    1. Verify the account and storage status
    2. Try purchasing from the web instead of the app
      • If the error appears in an app or the Store, buy the plan directly from the OneDrive plans page: https://onedrive.live.com/about/plans/.
      • Make sure the Microsoft Store app is updated and that the account signed into the Store has permission to buy apps and subscriptions.
    3. Update or change payment method
      • Go to Manage Storage on the OneDrive website: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=257521.
      • Select Manage next to the storage plan to open the Microsoft account site.
      • Open Services & subscriptions.
      • In the OneDrive section, choose Change how you pay and either select another payment method or Add a new way to pay.
      • To update billing details for an existing payment method, at the top of the page select Payment & billing > Billing info or Payment options and correct any expired or invalid details.
    4. If storage/quota does not update after purchase
    5. If the account is frozen or full
      • If the account is frozen or over quota, either:
        • Delete files to get back under the quota (including emptying the OneDrive Recycle Bin from Manage your OneDrive storage), or
        • Buy more storage via the Upgrades section on the storage page.
      • Changes to a frozen account can take up to 2 hours to apply; if still frozen after 4 hours, use the OneDrive support link: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2227475.

If the payment method is valid, the account is correct, and the error persists beyond the propagation times above, the next supported step is to contact Microsoft Support through the OneDrive/Account billing support links and have them review the subscription and billing profile.
