Minecraft launcher tells me i don't own java on my microsoft account. Cant play

Question

I opened the minecraft launcher only to find it says buy now instead of play now, and said that my microsoft account doesnt own minecraft. I can still play on bedrock, but it says i dont own java.

I learned of this problem when using the prism launcher for a modded smp me and my friends play in, when it said that i could launch the game due to my microsoft account not owning it.
The game was gifted to me a bit more than a year ago by a few friends, since then have played on and off throughout the year, but this is the first time this has happened.

i recommend to log out of the Minecraft Launcher, Xbox app, and Microsoft Store, then log back in using the exact Microsoft account used for the original purchase.

Also, make sure that your system clock/time is correct.
