Lost access to Azure Authenticator App

I have my personal outlook email id as Azure Login id, and since when Azure made 2FA compulsory, I setup the Authenticator App in my phone. (Remember I already had account setup with Microsoft Authenticator for my outlook id, now a new account setup for the Azure account in the Authenticator app) and I have lost access to that app now. However, I somehow got my outlook account authenticator app working in my new phone, but not having Azure account in it.

Now whenever I try to sign in to portal.azure.com it asks for the verification code, no other option.

What to do?

    Hello Pishangkumar Ujeniya,

The issue pertains to a tenant lockout, where no other global admin in the tenant has the necessary permissions to login and make changes in your tenant.

To resolve this, we have engaged our Data Protection team through a support ticket. They will reach out to you via email or phone to help restore access to the tenant and assist in resolving the issue.

    Hello @Pishangkumar Ujeniya,

If you’ve lost access to the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new phone and cannot authenticate your Azure account, there are a few steps you can take:

    1. Alternative Sign-In Methods: Check if you have any alternative sign-in methods available, such as backup codes, SMS, or email verification. If you have these options set up, you can use them to regain access to your account.
    2. Account Recovery: If you cannot access your account using alternative methods, you may need to go through the account recovery process. Visit the Microsoft account recovery page and follow the prompts.
    3. Contact Support: If the recovery options do not work, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance. They can help you with account recovery and may have additional tools to verify your identity.
    4. Reset MFA Settings: If you are part of an organization, ask your admin to reset your multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings. This will allow you to set up the Authenticator app again. If you are using a personal account, you may need to follow the recovery process outlined above.
    5. Reinstall the Authenticator App: If you regain access to your Azure account, you can reinstall the Microsoft Authenticator app and set it up again. Make sure to follow the setup instructions carefully to add your Azure account back into the app.
