I have tried both options. Automatic setup and setup manually. Still not functioning as intended. Any suggestions?

    Hi @Amaury Casadesus

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To better understand your issue, could you please share a bit more detail:

-Did you see any specific error message when trying to set up Gmail in Outlook?

-Did you add Gmail as a POP or IMAP account?

-If possible, let us know the steps you’ve already taken and where exactly you got stuck.

For classic Outlook, even if you’ve entered your Gmail address and password correctly, the setup may fail if you’re using your regular password. In many cases, you’ll need to create and use an app password instead. See You may need to use an app password

Please know that while our initial response might not resolve the issue right away, your input is incredibly valuable. With a bit more detail, we’ll work together to find the best solution for you.

Follow these steps to get Gmail working in classic Outlook on Windows:

    1. Add the Gmail account in Outlook
      1. In Outlook, select File > Add Account.
      2. Enter the Gmail email address and select Connect.
      3. When the Google sign-in window appears, confirm the Gmail address (re‑enter it if needed), then select Next.
      4. Enter the Gmail password.
      5. Review the permissions statement and select Allow.
      6. Select Done, then restart Outlook.
      7. After restart, check the folder pane for the Gmail mailbox and folders.
    2. If automatic setup fails in classic Outlook
      1. In Outlook, go to File > Add Account.
      2. Enter the Gmail address, then select Advanced options and check Let me set up my account manually.
      3. Choose IMAP (recommended for Gmail) or POP.
      4. Enter the Gmail password and select Connect.
      5. If setup fails, select Change Account Settings and verify the server settings using the information from the email provider or the POP/IMAP reference, then select Connect and Done.
    3. If Outlook shows “Could not sign you in to Google – IMAP”
      1. Make sure Outlook is updated to a build that includes the fix (Version 2008 Build 13127.20296 or later). If not, update Microsoft 365 Apps.
      2. As a workaround until the fixed version is installed:
        • Open Outlook (or any Office app).
        • Go to File > Office Account.
        • Under Account Privacy, select Manage Settings.
        • Check Enable optional connected experiences.
        • Restart Outlook and add the Gmail account again.
    4. If using Google Workspace (G Suite) with classic Outlook
      1. In the Google Admin console, confirm:
        • Apps > G Suite: Calendar, Directory, Drive and Docs, and Gmail are ON for everyone.
        • Apps > G Suite > Settings for Gmail > Advanced settings: Enable G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook is selected.
        • Security: Enable API access is selected.
        • Apps > G Suite > Settings for Directory: Enable contact sharing is selected.
        • Apps > G Suite > Settings for Drive and Docs: Allow users to access Google Drive with the Drive SDK API is selected.
      2. Install and configure G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GSSMO):
        • From the GSSMO download page, download and run the installer.
        • Sign in with Google Workspace credentials and select Continue.
        • Select the account, choose Allow.
        • Under Create a G Suite profile in Microsoft Outlook, leave Import data from an existing profile unchecked and select Create profile.
        • Select Start Microsoft Outlook, then Accept and start Outlook.
        • Wait for mail, contacts, and calendar to finish syncing.

If manual setup still fails after these steps, verify with the Google admin or email provider that IMAP access is enabled and that any required app‑password or security settings on the Google side are configured.
