The sign-in loop is caused by the embedded sign-in flow inside the non-Microsoft mail app. To break the loop and get Outlook mail working on the LG G7, use one of these approaches:
- Prefer using the Outlook for Android app
- Install and open Outlook for Android.
- Go to Settings > Add Account > Add Email Account.
- Enter the Outlook email address and tap Continue.
- Complete the Microsoft sign-in (including Authenticator approval and “Stay signed in?”).
- If the account is not Exchange/Outlook.com but IMAP/POP, choose IMAP or POP3, toggle Advanced settings, and enter the server details from the provider.
- If using another mail app, ensure it supports modern authentication
- Many older or basic mail apps do not support the modern authentication that Outlook.com now requires.
- If the app offers an explicit Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 / Exchange option, always choose that rather than “Other/IMAP/POP” when adding the account.
- If there is no Outlook.com/Exchange option or the loop continues, contact that app’s support to confirm it supports modern authentication. If it does not, use Outlook for Android instead.
- Clear cached sign-in and retry If the loop persists even with a supported provider option:
- Remove the problematic Outlook account from the mail app.
- In the phone browser, sign in to the Outlook.com / Microsoft account once to ensure the account itself works and MFA completes successfully.
- Then re-add the account in the mail app using the Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 option (not generic IMAP/POP) and complete the sign-in again.
If the non-Microsoft app still loops after this, the supported and recommended solution is to use the Outlook for Android app, which is fully compatible with Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 accounts and modern authentication.
