Having this issue pop up on event viewer upon starting the game through Steam, it loads for 5 seconds then closes again. Tried reinstalling the game, steam itself, windows updates, verifying game files, updating drivers, system file checker, but to no avail, help would be appreciated. TIA

    Hii,

Access windows explorer go to the documents folder look for rocket league and rename the folder to rocketleague.old

Open the command prompt (admin) and run the commands: sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, wait for the process to finish and restart the computer.

Then perform a clean boot and if you want to uninstall applications that you do not use.

The crash is occurring in ntdll.dll with exception code 0xc0000005 (access violation), which is commonly caused by a bad or incompatible component the game depends on (graphics stack, DirectX runtime, drivers, or system services) rather than by ntdll.dll itself.

Based on the available guidance, try the following targeted steps:

    1. Repair Gaming Services (if using Xbox features / Game Pass integration) A broken Gaming Services installation can prevent games from starting correctly.
      1. Open Notepad.
      2. Paste this PowerShell script:
              Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
              Remove-Item -Path "HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices" -recurse
              Remove-Item -Path "HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet" -recurse

      3. Save as RepairGamingServices.ps1 (Save as type: All Files).
      4. Right‑click the file and select Run as administrator.
      5. Restart the PC.
      6. Open the Xbox app; when prompted that Gaming Services is required, choose Install.
      7. Try launching Rocket League again from Steam.
    2. Reinstall/refresh Gaming Services and Xbox app via PowerShell
      1. Run PowerShell as administrator.
      2. Remove Gaming Services:
              get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

      3. In the same window, force the Gaming Services install page to open:
              start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Install Gaming Services from the Store.
      4. Ensure the Xbox app is current:
              get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxApp | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
              start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9mv0b5hzvk9z

Then install the Xbox app again and retry the game.
    3. Update DirectX runtime and GPU drivers Even if drivers are “up to date,” installing the latest DirectX runtime and re‑applying GPU drivers can fix access violations in games:
      1. Install the latest DirectX End‑User Runtimes (Web Installer) from the Microsoft download page referenced in the article.
      2. Fully reinstall the GPU driver from the vendor (clean install option if available).
    4. Perform a clean startup to rule out conflicts Background tools (overlays, monitoring, antivirus, system utilities) can inject into games and cause 0xc0000005 crashes.
      1. Perform a clean startup as described in the referenced clean‑startup article (disable non‑Microsoft services and startup items).
      2. Reboot and try launching Rocket League again.
      3. If it works in a clean startup, re‑enable services/apps gradually to find the conflicting software.
    5. Ensure Windows is fully updated Install all pending cumulative updates for Windows 11, as some ntdll/kernel fixes are delivered via Windows Update and can resolve application crashes.

If Rocket League still closes after these steps, collect any new crash entries from Event Viewer and, if possible, a crash dump for further analysis, focusing on third‑party modules loaded into the RocketLeague.exe process at the time of the fault.
