    Hi Thomas Svejcar,

Thanks for your post. I understand how confusing it can be when Windows switches languages unexpectedly. Firstly, please make sure you already tried the steps below:

Step 1 – Set Windows display language to English

    1. Open “Settings” > “Time & language” > “Language & region”
    2. Under “Windows display language”, select “English (United States)” (or your preferred English variant)
    3. If English is not listed, click “Add a language”, add English, then set it as the display language
    4. Sign out and sign back in when prompted

Step 2 – Make English the primary language

    1. In “Language & region”, under “Preferred languages”
    2. Select English > “Move up” so it’s at the top
    3. Remove Spanish if you don’t need it

Step 3 – Check keyboard and regional settings

    1. Go to “Settings” > “Time & language” > “Region”
    2. Set “Country or region” to your correct location
    3. Under “Administrative language settings”, confirm formats are also set to English

Additionally, please try these steps if the issue persists:

    1, Check “Language override”

Windows can keep English installed but still force Spanish via override.

    1. Go to “Settings” > “Time & language” > “Language & region”
    2. Under “Regional format”, click “Change formats”
    3. Set “Language for non‑Unicode programs” / “Format” to English
    4. Restart the PC

2, Copy English to system & sign‑in screen

If only system menus / sign‑in screen are Spanish, this is the fix.

    1. Open “Control Panel” > “Region”
    2. Go to “Administrative” tab > “Copy settings…”
    3. Check:
      • “Welcome screen and system accounts”
      • “New user accounts”
    4. Confirm and restart

3, Check Microsoft account language sync (often overlooked)

If you sign in with a Microsoft account, account language can re‑apply after updates.

    1. Go to your Microsoft account profile via https://account.microsoft.com
    2. Check Language & region preferences
    3. Set them to English, save changes
    4. Restart and sign in again
