In classic Outlook for Windows, zoom for reading messages is controlled by the Reading Pane zoom, not by Windows display settings.
If the zoom slider is stuck or grayed out at 10%, use the Zoom dialog instead:
- Open one of the email messages that is hard to read.
- On the message window ribbon, go to the Message tab.
- In the Zoom group, select Zoom.
- In the Zoom dialog box, choose a higher percentage (for example, 100% or 150%).
- If available, select Remember my preference so the zoom level applies to all messages, then select OK.
Alternatively, if the slider becomes active again:
- In the Reading Pane, look at the bottom-right corner of Outlook.
- Use the magnification slider to increase the zoom level until the text is readable.
- If the percentage number next to the slider is clickable, select it to open the Zoom window, pick a higher percentage, and enable Remember my preference so it persists across messages.
If the slider remains grayed out in the main Outlook window, open a message in its own window and use the Message > Zoom dialog as above; the Reading Pane zoom is the supported way to change font size when reading messages.
