To help narrow down the issue:
- Did you save the document to OneDrive, iPad storage, or another location (like Google Drive or iCloud)?
- Were you signed in to your Microsoft account in Word when you created the file?
- Did the app close or crash before the document was saved?
- Are you able to see the document under Word > Home > Recent?
On iPad, Word usually saves files to OneDrive by default, so I recommend checking your OneDrive account online as well. Sometimes the file may still be there even if it does not appear in the app.
Also check this in Word:
Open Word on your iPad. > Tap Home. > Look under Recent, Shared, and OneDrive.
